Lunch in Santa Fe

Wonderful: beautiful sunny day with already many tourists, many tempting goodies of all sorts and a super delicious lunch at Pasqual's. The passion fruit creme brulee was pure extasy. We always get a kick out of the marvelous saying "panza llena, corazon contento"...of course I totally agree. Pour mes amis français et qui peut-etre ne comprendraient pas "ventre plein, coeur content"....qui n'est pas d'accord?
For those of you who might visit Santa Fe: Do not miss Pasqual's!

Inspire Me Thursday: Wallpaper

Ok, so I was working on this one already (not entirely finished) but truly, really, I thought that it "kind of" fits the theme!
By the way, the colors are too vivid in this picture. I am having again a terrible time getting true colors.

The Birds

I am working on the 2 birds, the right one almost finished. I realize that they have to be on the dark side if I want them to recede and the woman to be the focus!

HAPPY SPRING: From our Garden to You

HAPPY HAPPY SPRING! Silly silly me, yesterday I posted "2 more days before"...but it is today! Let us rejoice! Here the sun is shining, daffodils, crocuses, tender little green or pink leaves, some trees and bushes covered with flowers, all seem to tell us to rejoice and take courage, winter is over, hope surrounds us....well you know what I mean!

Coconut...Tree seeds

The seeds are very small, inside, not really visible. I thought the whole thing looked like an insect of some sort.

Race is done!

I am sooooo tired. This was a tough course all up and down, narrow path, breezy and on the cold side. Uphill at the start and same uphill at the end!!!
I am not used to running hills but I pushed myself plenty and enjoyed passing tons of people on the way down.....3 or 4 of these gained on me later on and passed me.
Anyway I am happy with my time of 27'17"...and my 1st place medal (age group 60 and over).
Steve did very well with 20'24" and a 3rd place medal....as you can guess many more people his age.
By the way I am a fan of Mary K., 84 or 85 years old who participated and did the 10K, wow.......I am in awe of her.
Celebration time.....tonight!

Step 2

I get so confused at times that I have to leave my studio and go do something else....grrrrr..... Should I...shouldn't I...add this...do that...remove this...glaze more..you get my point! I even feel like a salt statue...if you know me that will sound very odd! So I worked very little today....as you can see. Ah! I also kept being unhappy with the bird drawing, he looked kind of ...simple-minded, comical....stuffed....whatever. He still looks stuffed but will remain that way. After all I'm the boss around here in my studio, right?
I have some excuses: went to a spiritual journaling workshop this morning, went for a short run...talked with hubby....admired the daffs in the garden...petted Coconut....fed the girls...and the felines...and myself...MADE TEA!!!!!

Race Tomorrow: 5K

Nervous, for this is my 1st race since early November and I can't expect to do very well: I need to shed a couple of pounds and to do more speed work but at the same time I am excited to enter into the season. Later on (in April I think)I will be running to qualify for the New Mexico Senior Games, no big deal here as long as I am injury-free.
Because I have been increasing my running by a lot, I am not getting up at dawn to go to the pool for now. I just do cross-training on the elliptical once a week and some upper body work.
Results tomorrow sometime!
Steve is running too. How wonderful that we share this!

The Sole

My Jen Worden Challenge for this week

So I finished this little project started in the Fall of 07. Because of plantar fasciitis my podiatrist taped my soles. A week or so later back in his office they slid right off my feet and I took them home, they were just like little sculptures....so cute....I started collaging one of them with my very special hand-painted and printed papers but never finished. Today I did!

What's In My Cup Lately

Here are 3 of my varieties "du jour"
On top is Honeybush Caramel from Revolution teas....yummy!

Soizik

Here is Soizik at breakfast this morning, beautiful, no? She continued to lay her eggs in the pile of rubbish so that I have had to escalate it running the risk of twisting my ankles, fighting large twigs, boards with nails, slippery plastic, to name a few of the obstacles. Yesterday however, allelluia she decided to lay her egg in a nest in one of the coops, but, no, not the one I had added just for her, no , of course not...I knew it was hers, I know the distinctions between the eggs of my hens with the exception of Eva and Zsa Zsa who are twins (my take) and lay totally similar eggs in shape, size and whiteness.
Eva....or ZsaZsa on the left, Bleuette to the right

Dyeing ...Caught red-handed

Latest printing technique: Last weekend I decided to do some experiments with paper towels, various inks and liquid acrylics, stencils etc. I had a lot of fun and now I can see the usefulness of this method but I need to make better stencils and plot my steps more carefully. These stencils were cut very quickly (45 seconds?) just for the experiment. The paper towel is soaked with different colors and is sandwiched between 2 pieces of paper with the stencils laid on the 1st paper, then a brayer is used to print. Needless to say I used gloves!

Journal Page Finale

The main color did not come true in any of my pictures. This is much bluer than reality, but I need to go run!
