I took 2 seconds to take this pic, standing on my stool very precariously, sorry, it is all lopsided:)
I am learning to make masks with contact paper to hide what I do not want printed: great technique.
Meaning working with a white figure blocked out with black gesso...Putting the brush dipped in black paint on a beautifully painted white background can be...scary!
A bit of stamping here, some collaged papers there...What a mess! I will be working on both at the same time...kind of.
I finished the background collage yesterday. Some of the outline has been lost here and there for now. The paper is curling a bit at the top, no worry, it is perfectly square.
Right now...how exciting...Paula wants to win.....again!
For awhile we thought that a French woman, Christelle Daunay, was going to do it but it was not meant to be....this time and not for Paula either who faded away with injury.
Derartu Tulu from Ethiopia wins it. Awesome.
I am so proud of Christelle!.....next year?
More collage with my papers, some areas will be reworked (another layer of paper collaged over or painted over).
Yesterday I worked for a looooooooonnnnnnnnnnng time making this piece of "complicated" paper (15" x 10 3/4" or 38,1 cms x 27,3cms) : small pieces of my stack of 23 previously shown papers, either torn or cut that are glued over a piece of deli paper. I will be able to cut shapes out of this paper to collage onto my figure...still no color.Sorry, pics are not great, can't spend the time:)The color will come later....I think!
Some of the papers, utilitarian, in other words, to be used...savagely:), cut or torn.
Working on a large piece of 300lb watercolor paper (14 1/4"x 22 1/2"). I rolled black gesso on it and now I am collaging pieces of the papers I made , a la Bagby! Learning a lot! Stamped here and there too.
